How Microsoft is Targeting the Mobile Gaming Market with Its Own Store

Microsoft is determined to enter into the mobile gaming market and has announced their dedicated mobile gaming platform that will debut late this year.

The purchase of Activision Blizzard by Microsoft should not be simply reduced to a list of games like Call of Duty, Overwatch, and World of Warcraft, for which Call of Duty gets greater importance. While this perspective is definitely not wrong, the forward vision that Microsoft has for this process is somewhat different. Indeed, Call of Duty is seen as the winner in the mobile games, and the King Company, the creator of Candy Crush, as they are also the parent company of Microsoft, also strengthens Microsoft's position in the sector of mobile gaming. Microsoft's Xbox head Sarah Bond introduced their impending launch of a mobile gaming store at the summit of Bloomberg Technology, at the same time as recently as that.

Right at the start, the store is expected to be published online as a website rather than an application so that the accessibility to different devices is increased. But, obviously, it can not be excluded that a parallel app will be released in the coming days. This is not the first time that the concept of building a mobile gaming store is being touched upon, especially when Microsoft had already enunciated their plans about to make their foray into the digital realm sometime following the European Union's Digital Markets Act, assisting companies in establishing digital storefronts. Bond also added that the initial lineup of the store focus on games made by Microsoft Studios such as Candy Crush Saga but introduce other games at a later point.
